I have a Redring expressions 500 electric shower.
When switched on the overheat light stays on and the water stays cold.
What could be wrong?
What do I need to fix?

Hi. I have a Redring Expressions 500s. When starting up, the shower stutters with the water cutting in and out every few seconds. The water eventually starts flowing properly sometimes after a couple of minutes, sometimes after around 10 mins. If I press the start button the water flows fine for the normal period it takes to turn off. If turned back on again, the same problem occurs. I have replaced the phased shut down relay and that did not clear the problem.
Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing this problem and what I can do to fix it.

The temperature control has to be turned to the highest number to get a warm shower, has the heating thermostat gone?
hello, your shower is only running on one heater tank element, it may be the element or it may be a micro-switch, you need an electrician really

Hello, this sounds like a partially blocked flow, have you checked the shower head for blockage?

A redring expressions 500 that has been out of use for approx 3 years.
Turned on water supply and shower works at reduced pressure but water also runs from a small pipe at the back of mains supply to shower unit. Looks like some sort of overflow pipe or safety relief!
This dwelling had been damaged by frost could this have anything to do with the problem?hello, this is probably a blown PRV, you will need to replace it and then see if the leak has stopped, it could be leaking from anywhere if it has been frost damaged,
