Thu 23rd Oct 2014 - Hello, I have an old Gainsborough Style 300x shower and I am unsure as to its power rating, I can't seem to find it. From memory I thought it was 7.2kW. There seems to be a number of power ratings for this old model! It has become faulty and needs replacing but the lowest power rating is 8.5kW in the nearest equivalent replacement. I am not sure as to the trip rating at the distribution board, there does not seem to be an amp rating on the trip for the shower. could you advise on these points please as I would be grateful! My home was built in 1999 so the wiring for the shower might be low?
Hi
The rating of your shower was stamped or painted on copper tank, if your power cable is standard 6mm you can install a shower up to 8.5KW.
If you install a new shower you should contact a qualified electrician to check your wiring and fuse board to advise fuse size. If shower rating is higher than 8.5kw you should use 10mm cable.
Kind Regards
